Policy
Code of Conduct
Version 1.0 · Adopted October 2026 · Applies to everyone who works with or for the IJIDI Foundation
Adopted by the Founder and Executive Director while CAC registration is in process. It will be ratified by the Board of Trustees and reviewed by legal counsel, and updated if that review changes anything.
This Code applies to trustees, the Executive Director, staff, volunteers, interns, consultants and anyone representing the IJIDI Foundation. Everyone reads and signs it before starting, and confirms it each year.
We commit to
- Integrity: act honestly, use the Foundation's resources only for its purposes, and report results truthfully — never inflated or invented.
- Respect: treat everyone with dignity. No discrimination on the basis of sex, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, or any other status.
- Safeguarding: follow our Safeguarding Policy at all times. No sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment, ever.
- No harassment or bullying of colleagues, partners or community members, in person or online.
- Conflicts of interest: declare them and step back from related decisions (see Anti-Fraud & Anti-Corruption).
- No bribes, kickbacks or facilitation payments, offered or accepted.
- Confidentiality: protect personal data and sensitive information; share it only when authorised and necessary.
- Representation: speak for the Foundation publicly, including on social media, only when authorised; never claim results, partners or status we do not have.
- Fitness for work: no work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The law: obey Nigerian law and the laws of any country where we work.
- Speaking up: report breaches of this Code through our complaints and whistleblowing channels. Reporting in good faith is protected.
Breaches
Breaches are investigated fairly and may lead to disciplinary action up to dismissal or termination of the relationship, and to referral to the authorities where the law has been broken.
